C8 - Results and idea behind the mobility
The content was to reach out teachers to cooperate more and better in cooperation with their students/pupils, to create an atmosphere where all counterparts (no matter if you are teacher or a student) are equal. This does not mean that teacher would not have teacher's authority but to realize that when pupils feel safe and respected in their classroom they normally also learn better. The Content was also to establish discussion between teachers in different countries about student councils and their work, how to engage pupils to school's every day life and how to create a feeling of togetherness in a school environment both in local, national and international level. Methodology was on the basis of bilateral and multilateral discussions between teachers and teacher groups. These groups were led by pupils (school's student council representers), by Finnish teachers (those are in charge of the Puolimatka student council) and by principal. The content was also about talking about positive pedagogy (registered trademark in Finland) and how to implement it in different ways and how to make it work in different cultures. Methodology was to to place to show how working together and enabling pupils to work within the school but for their own interests will promote healthy, trustworthy, atmosphere in the School. This promotes the learning in big picture and will, perhaps, also affect pupils' mental health in the long run. All this is to make people think their own well-being, taking responsibility on their actions and through this - work also on the nature's well-being and sustainability in a sustainable way and in larger scale.
Actions and talks taken during the week resulted in motivated in teachers. Participating teachers felt that they had gained tools for their everyday life and they were more focused on their own classroom behavior and actions than before. Teachers learnt a lot about Finnish educational thinking and said that they were happy to see and knowledge that we all have same challenges - but they can be worked through persistent planning and co-operation. It was also stated that not all the problems can be solved, but we have to start with small exercises, habits and terminology (for example) and then - through baby steps - we can change the mindset of our peers and superiors about certain ways of thinking (about education or emotional well-being in the school environment).
The international participants were from our partner countries.
Also the parents of the hosting families worked on the project.
The results were shared within the whole city (internal mailing lists and webpages) as well as neighboring institutions.
