About the dissemination...
The project has been truly rewarding, not only to our own pupils but to many others. Dissemination has taken place during several years and in different forms within our city and our neighboring cities. - text will be updated shortly
Different activities done with the focus on European Union, cultures and Erasmus+
Our Puolimatka-school celebrated the Europe day in May 2021, 2022 and 2023.
We did quizzes for other students and together with different classes we also decorated our school's corridors with the basic information on European union.

Together with our 6th graders (12 years old) we explored different kind of ways to celebrate Christmas and Holiday Season. We talked about different religions and the meaning of festivities.
Knowing one's own roots, history and past helps us to see & respect other cultures' traditions as well. The respect of different customs, traditions, habits and history are a big part of today's and tomorrow's sustainable living and willingness to preserve and cherish our planet.
During the lessons we watched the following videos and discussed the meals we saw. We brought up several points related to sustainability, healthy eating and even animals' rigths.

News and pics on different European countries 2021 (especially Poland, Finland, Spain):
In the end of the lesson pupils had a chance to bake some traditional Finnish Christmas pastries - plum pastries. Plums are often part of traditional Finnish sweets such as "joulutortut", flaky pastries filled with plum jam. The history of these pastries originate from Sweden and are a crucial part of Finnish Christmas tradition. We challenge our partners to try them at home!

European Day of Languages 26.9.2020 in FinlandPuolimatka-school has long traditions of celebrating the languages.
There are around 20 different mother tongues in the school itself (pupils from all over the world) and pupils have the opportunity to learn English, Swedish, French and German as a foreign language.
Those students who have Thai, Arabic, Chinese, Russian or Estonian as their mother tongue can study their own language 2 lessons per week within the school.
Every year we celebrate our European languages and we play with languages. In order to do this we visit the European union page: https://edl.ecml.at/Home/tabid/1455/language/en-GB/Default.aspx.
This year we visited neighboring kindergarten and introduced languages to preschoolers. Preschoolers choose their 1st foreign language before they enter the school (as the German/French/Swedish/Russian - according to their choice made - starts on the 1st grade) - so therefore they are really intrested in different languages!
The Finnish language is said to be among the most difficult languages in the world. If you want to try some Finnish, please visit:
