SPAINworkshop on environmental issues conducted by an environment expert from the Cabildo de Tenerife (Island of Tenerife Government) in cooperation with Guía de Isora Town Council took place at I.E.S Manuel Martín González. Involving young people from the area in understanding the real long-term problems related to not taking care of the environment properly was the target of this activity. During the workshop students showed themselves receptive, interested and aware of the actual risks we may face if immediate changes are not implemented in our lives.
Cambium team, a group that belongs to the Canary Islands Government Youth branch, supported us at school by delivering a workshop named “Cambiando el mundo desde el aula (Changing the world from the classroom)”. Its main objective was to make students aware of the importance of adopting environmental-friendly attitudes which favour a sustainable development in order to fulfill the objectives established by the 2030 Agenda. Students had the opportunity to work both individually and in groups and had to reflect on their own lifestyle and habits, give ideas to foster the sustainable development, guess the main problems related to climate change, etc.
Local radio station “Radio Isora” has supported our project by coming to school and helping us with dissemination . These events took place in october 2020 and 2021 as part of the Erasmus days activities. Coordinator, subcoordinator, school principal and some of the students involved in the project explained how important was for them to be part of it, what it meant for the school to participate and the expectations they had on the WeCAN Erasmus + project as well as how necessary was for all of us to be aware of the climate change consequences and the actions that needed being taken to reverse it.
A local branch of Red Cross came to school on 25th march 2021 to deliver a lecture and a workshop on environmental education dealing with topics such as sustainable development, preservation of biodiversity, ecologic footprint, responsible consumption and climate change. Some of the students who participated in the project joined the activities that day at school and learn a lot from our guests.

FINLANDCity of Hyvinkää
The city of Hyvinkää has given us great support during the project. We have also implemented our Erasmus+ events and information in the city hall, we have sent out Newsletters and information about our upcoming activities. Kipinä High School in Hyvinkää We work in great co-operation with our local high school. We exchange lessons learned about the projects and we share our visitors from European countries. High School gave us opportunity to visit their premises and offered us interesting insights and exchange while our Erasmus+ friends (teachers) visited Finland and Puolimatka in May 2023. Laurea University of Applied Sciences We have worked together in several projects. Our school has tested Erasmus+ outcomes of Laurea and Laurea has helped us support digital awareness and tools in the Erasmus+ project. The local 4H offered us opportunity to work closely with them in order to plant trees, monitoring and following the local forests and their health. We worked together with 4H also during the Finnish mobility in May 2023. Their website https://tuusula.4h.fi/ UPM-Kymmene This big Finnish wood- and paper-industry company was our partner during the project. They welcomed our students to explore what a big company does for the nature (forests) in order to emphasize sustainability. https://www.upm.com/ |
